What was in my camera bag

Leave it to me to be different. Most photographers post a "what's in my camera bag " photo or video to show everyone their tools of the trade. I'm posting this one to show what was in my bag that was stolen from my car. All of this equipment was in a large Manfrotto camera backpack. Sony A65, A55, and NEX 5N camera bodies. Sony 50mm 1.4, Minolta 50mm 1.7,  Tamron 28-200mm, Sony 75-300mm, NEX 17-55mm lenses.  NEX to Alpha adapter, Sony HVL-F58AM flash, assorted brushes, batteries, filters, bounce cards, business cards, glasses, etc.
At first it was shocking to me, but now that it has been over six months since the theft of my gear I have made up my mind that this incident will not stop my pursuit of a photography career. I am now more determined to succeed.

Mobile Sunrise

Even though I went to shoot the sunrise with my normal Sony DSLR's, I had to pause and shoot one with my smartphone. Learn to use whatever camera you happen to have with you..

My favorite piece of Personal Art

This is by far my favorite piece of personal art. I made it in kindergarten. The back of it picked up newsprint from the newspapers that it rested on while drying. There is also little 5 year old handwriting showing that the year was 1967!!!.

Mobile photography gallery on my website

I'm really starting to respect my smartphone camera as a concealed weapon. Here are some photos from the mobile gallery on my website. Because Flash is required to view slideshow, this is best viewed from a computer or device that is Flash enabled.

Mobile photography

With the introduction of some very high speed smartphone cameras, mobile photography has taken off to a higher level. Camera phones are not only convenient, but many of them rival the point and shoot cameras. We always seem to have our smartphones with us. Just as the creative photographer Chase Jarvis wrote about so eloquently in his book, The Best Camera is the One With You, an image can come from any camera. Here's a couple of my favorite mobile photos.

Mobile blogging is Awesome!!!!

Thanks to the new Android app, I'm going to be able to add content to this blog on a more consistent basis. I post more on my other blog (www.samuelsvisions.com) than I do here. I don't want to give up on this blog. Stay tuned!!!!!

Happy Fourth of July

Can't believe that is the Fourth of July again..  Enjoy the holiday. Remember what we are celebrating. Stay safe in the water now that the hurricane has passed by. Grill a burger or two.  Happy 4th of July!!!!!!

"Freedom has its life in the hearts, the actions, the spirit of men and so it must be daily earned and refreshed - else like a flower cut from its life-giving roots, it will wither and die."  -  Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Local Art

Local statues make for awesome models. They don't fuss a whole lot, nor do they whine that it is too hot or too cold.

51 and counting.

No one knows how long they will live. If today was your last day, what would be your best memory?  What would be your worst? Everyday is another day to get it right. Take the time to encourage someone. Be thankful for everything that you have in your life. Friends, family, relationships, health, wealth, etc...  I don't worry about how much time I have left. I just make sure that I take advantage of each day I get.
